Bird’s Eye View of Home.

Cowland July 19th, 2006

A guy came around the other day selling pictures of the houses in our area. He’s a pilot and took the pictures from the air last autumn. He probably managed to sell a few pictures to the neighbours because they turned out well. This is a picture of our house from the northwest.

Our Cuban Pig Roast.

Cowland, People July 17th, 2006

Oscar the pig 1We had our first ever pig roast this weekend, and because of how successful it was, we hope to make it an annual event. The weather was beautiful for the entire day.

Oscar the pig 2The roast was done cuban style and couldn’t have been easier to cook. I had to modify the pig holder because I couldn’t find aluminum mesh at Home Depot. I used steel mesh and rebar for the main part of the holder. It rusts easily, but also cleans up easily with some steel wool.

Oscar, the pig, was 63 pounds butchered weight and was bought from Beeton Meats. Thanks to everyone for bringing food and to Blair and Larissa for helping out.

Here are a couple of pictures of the roaster empty and then with Oscar cooking on it:

Here and here are refreshing posts (the former anyways) on some of the quackery that I put up with at work.

Wood Chopping and Flip Flops.

Warning: Do not chop wood while wearing open-toed flip flops. But which person in their right mind would do that anyway?

July Update.

We’ve been busy with work, still getting over our coughs, and getting ready for a pig roast that we’re going to be holding this weekend.

Here are Blair and Larissa at their place on Blair’s birthday:
