My Old Research.

More stuff from the back of the drawer. This drawer is like a Mary Poppins bag. It is endlessly deep.

I found some old SEM photos of my research when I was in my Endo programme. The research had to do with how different intracanal medicaments might affect the bond strength of glass ionomer to dentin. I experimented on bovine dentin and the results turned out to not be all that exciting (neither was the experimental process).

Indirectly, however, I ended up meeting The Girl because of the research. She was doing her own research on the same floor of the building and I met her through a colleague of mine. Maybe I’ll tell that story one day.

i heard that EDTA can have an effect on resin cements and bond strength, so it’s very important to neutralize it when irrigating the canals. i do use it during my RCTs as one of the last steps after i’ve cleaned and shaped, but i flush it out for at leat 5 minutes with NaOCl just to make sure.

glad something really meaningful came out of all that research. who knew that bovine dentin had the magical power of bringing two souls together. i would love to hear that story. i myself joke around that the canuck was the probably the most expensive husband on the planet, since i picked him up in dental school.

Or did he pick you up?
