Crack of the Week.

Fractures March 15th, 2007

Although the lesion at MB is more significant apically, I get a little worried when I see periradicular PDL “looseness” into the furcation. Especially on a solitary molar with no crown that is an abutment for an RPD.

Because this is what it often turns out to be.

Actually no. The worst thing that I see with pins is sometimes perforation through the tooth to the outside. It’s rare that I’ll see endo issues or fractures (even more rare) from pins–I call them “staples” in front of my patients because they seem to understand that better.

oh dear… i start my first ‘real’ endo on tuesday… wish me luck!
we’ve already had one classmate fracture a tooth in a patient taking bisphsophanates so that’s probably the WORST i can do!

Good luck, I’m sure it’ll go fine.

Is there a suggestion that the bisphosphanates led to the fracture? Did the fracture happen during an endo?
