It has been said that the practice of dentistry is stressful. I won’t argue there, but I will say that I’m sure any other means of making a living can be just as stressful. It’s how one manages and copes with the stressors that defines one’s character and also their work environment.

Here is what we’ve been up to lately at work:

Durex

Vacations are in season these days and one of my staff wanted to show me what they were packing in their suitcase. They don’t like Pina Colada so they gave me that one to try. I added some Rum but it didn’t taste all that great so I’m not sure I’d want to try the Tingling one…

Lunch Nap.

And this is how my assistant spends her lunch hour. Note the fists…

Um… do you have a need for a 2nd assistant? heheheh

Do you think you might fit in?

Qualifications include proficiency with facebook, knowing how to operate a dental chair to position it properly for napping, the ability to make patients happily wait while you speak to your house builder about where to put pot lights, proficiency with video games (and the “boss key”), making sure that we finish the day on time even though we’ve been running behind all day, proficiency with online shopping and gambling, proficiency at busting computers so that facebook, your video games, online shopping, and gambling don’t work. Oh…and some dentistry business.

what about keeping abreast of celebrity gossip? qualified individuals must have a full grasp of who’s pregnant, NOT pregnant, sleeping with whom, in rehab, divorced, dead or nearly dead, overdosing, and what fashion or verbal faux pas have been committed within the last 24 hours. they also must have a high tolerance for potty language and like eighties music.

An assistant would be overqualified with those. Those are managerial qualifications…

Speaking of which: I remember this one office that I worked at where I was completely grossed out one day when the office manager took a pair of scissors and started trimming the nose hairs of the principal dentist (in his private office of course).

Damn it!! Damn it all to hell! I don’t play computer games :( and I guess I could learn the dentistry stuff…

okay, now that’s foul. unless the office manager was his wife. if not, then there are some serious issues.

do PS2 games count? i’m kicking ass on the Sims 2 and Parappa the Rapper.

  • http://www.endodontics.ca Periapex

    Not his wife.

Speaking of games: 1. Is it my turn on Scrabulous yet, 2. I’m still waiting to see how good you say you are at Twister, 3. MondoPondo looks like a good game for us to try when we’re all together next time.

i can’t tell, you bombarded me with so many scrabble requests i can’t tell which is which. my brain will fry.

twister not an option now, too bulky and gassy to play. but mondo pondo sounds fun, sans alcohol, and have you ever played cranium? that’s hillarious.

    i also have ghetto-opoly.

  • http://www.endodontics.ca Periapex

Cranium no. Ghetto-oploy sounds interesting. How much do hoe’s go for?

I’m actually thinking that I wouldn’t mind trying some of the games that your governor was up to…

do you have that kind of cash on you? you could buy ling-ling’s massage parlor for $50. and you can be the bong or the crack crystal, if you want.

by the way, i think it’s absurd that he was forced to resign over that whole incident. if everyone was fired for getting some on the side, half the country would be out of a job. not to mention the crimes of humanity committed by our current commander in chief and his sidekick, and they’re both still employed so something just doesn’t sit quite right with me. but i digress….

fragileheart: The dentistry stuff is easy, I tell you what to do, you just need to be able to count to 8 (the normal number of teeth in each quadrant of the mouth). Or if you’re in the States you need to be able to count to 32. Their tooth identification system is different from ours. Wanna play MondoPondo with us one day?

person who can’t speak: Wouldn’t they do heroin or opium at Ling-Ling’s? Not that I would know or anything. Wasn’t Gov’ner a republican? Sex stuff is much worse than kill stuff. I don’t know anything about your politics. There’s too much voting for different people that goes on over there. Confuses me easily.

  • person who can’t speak english

yes, that too. but you can BE the crack or the bong, there is a difference.

sptizer was a democrat who was just elected in 2006. they are notorious for getting tail while in office. look at clinton, kennedy, et cetera. the republicans raise hell over scandals like that, but historically it’s been republicans who’ve been busted for gay affairs and weird porn heists. our current commander is an alcoholic coke-head! but loyal to his wife, i’m sure (smirk).
