We’re in the process of preparing for the Pro Am “competition” in May so we’ve been doing some hardcore dancing over the last few weeks

At last week’s St. Paddy’s day party at the studio, The Girl and myself were paired off with different people to dance with (learning to dance with different people is a big part of learning to dance). She was paired off with Elio.

Elio is in his 50’s, owns some sort of fairly successful business, and he’s been coming to the studio for almost as long as we have. He’s a shorter Italian gentleman. As I’ve gotten to know him (and his wife) little by little, I’ve been kind of creeped out by him. I get the dirty old man vibe from him. And of course, his favourite dances are the up close and personal ones like Bachata.

So as Elio and The Girl were dancing a swing, he did something that is a no-no when dancing with someone else’s (happily married) wife.

While he led a spin from a tuck-in with his left hand, he pinched her ass with his right hand…

lol, do i detect a tiny little bit of a jealous note in this blog entry???!!! seriously, however, that “move” was totally uncalled for and totally sleezy! typical tho of an old Italian “gentle”man, no?! what did the Girl do?

as a married old(er) italian man, that’s probably the most action he’s gotten in a long time…

Ouch. What did your wife do? And was the pinch obvious to the point that anyone watching would have noticed?

Bang out of order, if I were you, I’d remove some of his teeth in a non-professional context.

What a bad, bad man! Did the instructor not see? Did ‘the girl’ turn around and pinch his balls? hehehe It’s what I would’ve done to a dirty old man – but I would’ve made it hurt!

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

The worst part about the pinch is that I think he was aiming for one cheek but because I turned so quickly he actually got me in between…At least one other woman at the studio has expressed that she will absolutely not dance with this guy anymore. A few months ago she complained that he was deliberately “brushing” her boobs during turns. I’ve felt the same thing also with him in the past, but have been able to keep my chest far enough away from him since then. Who would have thought he would do something as obvious as this though?

At these weekly parties, the lights are low and the instructors are themselves usually all dancing with various students so it’s difficult to see relatively subtle things like this in the context of all of the movement of the various dances.

When it happened, I was so shocked that I didn’t know what I should do. Should I have made a huge scene, sat down, or gone off right away to an instructor? I ended up finishing the dance with him. I covered my butt with my hands on each turn. He didn’t attempt anything illegal again.

I didn’t tell The Boy about it until we were ready to leave for the night. I told him after I took one of the instructors aside and relayed the episode to her. She was, of course, shocked and told me she would definitely take care of it.

We stopped in last night for a group class and he was there–quiet as a mouse. We didn’t interact with him (didn’t need to). Tomorrow we’re going in to work on our Pro Am stuff with the owner of the studio and we’ll see what he has to say…

BTW The Boy (Periapex) can’t hurt a fly–only himself with axes and saws and ladders. So I don’t expect that Elio will be losing any teeth soon.

She’s talking about injuries that I’ve had from Axes, curiousity, saws, and ladders in the past.

It’s the dancing that has pacified me over the years. I don’t know any martial arts and there’s no way I can hurt someone too badly with a sugar push; or a brush twinkle; or a promenade chasse.

Hope he gets removed from the class before he tries something on another unsuspecting victim.

We’ll see what eventually happens. I suspect they’ll warn him and then if it happens again, which it probably won’t, they’ll kick him out.

The Girl told the studio owner yesterday. He was quite disappointed in E’s behaviour. She says she almost saw a tear in his eye…He told us that he’s kicked couples out in the past for similar things (he didn’t go into details) and that no woman should feel uncomfortable dancing at his studio.

I don’t think he knows exactly what he’ll do yet with this situation, but he’s probably going to mull it over this weekend and speak with the other instructors as well. In the meantime The Girl has told him that she will not dance with E at any time. Not during parties or group lessons.

Sounds like you handled it well.

My plan would have gotten myself banned.

Tam: I deliberately keep my violent tendencies under control. Once they get out, they get out badly…I’m lucky that The Girl understands. If she were the type that would have wanted a showy demonstration of my love for her, there might have been a problem. But this is why I married her.
