I Love You Internet (and Olivia Newton John).
InternetOsphere, Music May 11th, 2008
I haven’t been able to do as much blogging as I would have liked these last few weeks because of the Pro Am that we were working towards, The Girl’s job transition, and our on-going landscaping project. Probably more importantly, however, some other internet interests have also captured my time.
Here’s a song that sums things up. I’ve reworked the lyrics to an Olivia Newton John song. The very first CD that I ever owned was one by her. Click the play button to listen to the song as you sing the lyrics below:
Maybe I hang around here
A little more than I should
The Girl says I’ve got somewhere else to go
But I got something to tell you
That I never thought I would
But I believe you really ought to know
I love you
I honestly love you
You don’t have to Comment
I see it in your Tweets
Maybe it was better left unsaid
This is pure and simple
And you should realize
That it’s coming from my heart and not my Wall
I love you
I need to Twitter you
I’m not trying to make you feel uncomfortable
I’m not trying to Chain Drop at all
But something like Entrecard doesn’t come along everyday
And you shouldn’t blow the chance
When you’ve got the chance to say
I love you
I have to email you
If we both were born
In another place and time
This moment might be ending on a BBS
But there you are with yours
And here I am with mine
So I guess we’ll just be leaving it at this
I love you
I really must blog you
I have to facebook you

Hmm.. this looks familiar….
Still fun to take someone’s lyrics and make it your own.

You are scaring me! First we share the same birthday, and now I find out that we also share a love of bad geeky music. I saved for weeks from my after school job to buy Olivia’s cassette. Remember the awful videos that went along with her music?

dom once spent the afternoon composing lyrics to a song called “the sound of silents”. you could only guess what that was about. this was when we were in dental school and felt we were learning too much.
maybe next time you come over i’ll dig up my anatomy haikus. i once wrote a poem called “ode to my spleen”. more lord tennison than olivia newton john, but still noteworthy.

hehehe, good one! Old songs like that one bring back memories of roller skating and dodgeball. Not at the same time though..hmmm that would have been fun tho.

Rudy: Yup, stealing lyrics is a popular pastime for bloggers, especially when you’ve got people on your back asking you to post something and you don’t have much time to do so.
fragileheart: Hope that post keeps you happy for a while now.
Ith: You like huh? Wait until I get around to doing the Sesame Street theme song.
person: It’ll be hard to share poetry while you’re showing me how to play Guitar Hero. Do you have Rock Band? That sounds like it might be more fun than Twister.
Kamala: I must have listened to Xanadu until the CD player’s laser cut through the disk. Ah, those were the days. I should look for the CD, think it’s over at my parents’ house…

well, you’ve summed it up pretty good here. the internet is taking over people’s lives and not in a good way either. i got a blog, facebook and now, thanks to you, this Twitter thing (which is sooo contageous btw)and that’s waaay too much for me. i much rather spend the time with Reto or even reading a good book, taking a class, excercising, going for walks and getting fresh air and sunshine, cooking, baking (or learning how to), travel, etc, etc.
i love the internet, don’t get me wrong, but when i reach the fine line of when it stops being a useful tool in my life and starts controlling my life (or taking away my precious time), i thank god i have the strength and sensibility to step back and away from the computer.

Lin: Rollerskating! Forgot that even used to exist…
Laney: Gotta get something like a Blackberry or an I-phone sort of device. You’ll be able to take part of the internet wherever you go then…

is rock band for game cube/x-box? that one’s new, but i heard it’s pretty wicked. if we can get it on PS3 i’ll probably wait until it goes on sale, it retails for over $100 right now. so maybe next year. we still have to finish final fantasy XII, simpsons, Sims 2, and guitar hero. thank god i have no life.
so i reached level 2 in career mode (still easy level) but i can’t beat the riff challenge to move to the next level. it’s driving me crazy!

Matt: Thanks for dropping by. Olivia is a classy woman for sure.
person: Don’t know, but I hear its like Guitar Hero but with different instruments that people can play at the same time.
Laney: Looks like you’re starting to get some followers on Twitter…

I demand the Sesame Street version next! Please.
Oh, Guitar Hero, yes! And Rock Band comes out for the Wii on June 22. Haven’t tried Rock Band, yet, but I’ve heard really good things about it.
