I Love You Internet (and Olivia Newton John).

InternetOsphere, Music May 11th, 2008

I haven’t been able to do as much blogging as I would have liked these last few weeks because of the Pro Am that we were working towards, The Girl’s job transition, and our on-going landscaping project. Probably more importantly, however, some other internet interests have also captured my time.

Here’s a song that sums things up. I’ve reworked the lyrics to an Olivia Newton John song. The very first CD that I ever owned was one by her. Click the play button to listen to the song as you sing the lyrics below:

Maybe I hang around here
A little more than I should
The Girl says I’ve got somewhere else to go
But I got something to tell you
That I never thought I would
But I believe you really ought to know

I love you
I honestly love you

You don’t have to Comment
I see it in your Tweets
Maybe it was better left unsaid
This is pure and simple
And you should realize
That it’s coming from my heart and not my Wall

I love you
I need to Twitter you

I’m not trying to make you feel uncomfortable
I’m not trying to Chain Drop at all
But something like Entrecard doesn’t come along everyday
And you shouldn’t blow the chance
When you’ve got the chance to say

I love you
I have to email you

If we both were born
In another place and time
This moment might be ending on a BBS
But there you are with yours
And here I am with mine
So I guess we’ll just be leaving it at this

I love you
I really must blog you
I have to facebook you

Compare and Contrast.

To have loved and lost is the theme today.

Besides Bryan Adams, when he used know how to rock, Roxette back in the late 80’s/early 90’s influenced my musical taste immensely. Marie’s looks and voice have haunted me to this day–so much so that The Girl and I recently performed a Viennese Waltz to one of their songs.

Marie is a survivor of brain cancer.

Here is “Crash, Boom, Bang”, the Viennese Waltz, and “Spending My Time”, the unplugged version:

I started to like Van Halen once Sammy joined then, so you know my preference.

Dear The Girl,

You have changed. I love you for that.

For the first time since I’ve known you, you have shown maturity and self-control in a situation that, in the past, would have controlled you. You have risen out of your past. I can see that you are bursting out of the arms that continue to encircle you after all of these years. It’s not because they are losing the strength of their grip. It’s because you have changed and grown and they can no longer contain you.

As others in your life encircle you and pull you down into their abysmal lives of frustration, and regret, they truly will sink.

I am happy though. You have finally found a way to swim with me up to the surface where the seaweed tickles but has no power to pull us asunder, where we can feel the warmth of the sun on our faces and view the endless horizon of time–to be one with life, to be a positive light, and to let the currents take us where they may.

On this road, that lies before us
Live the love, the joy and sorrow
But we will always try to remember
The pain today, is the joy tomorrow

And now together, together
Love will be much better, yes it will
Together together, our love will share
And forever forever love will keep us together
And together, together our lives will change

But until then, till then we will follow
Follow this road endlessly, we believe,
That we have found love from this moment
From this moment until forever

And now together, together
Love will be much better, yes it will
Together together, our love will share
And forever forever love will keep us together
And together, together our lives will change
And forever forever love will keep us together
And together, together our lives will change

A Song for a Fish.

Hector has just hours left. This video is for him:

Are these times contagious
I’ve never been this bored before
Is this the prize I’ve waited for
Now with the hours passing
There’s nothing left here to insure
I long to find a messenger
Have I got a long way to run
Have I got a long way to run
Yeah, I run

Is there a cure among us
From this processed sanity
I weaken with each voice that sings
Now, in this world of purchase
I’m going to buy back memories
To awaken some old qualities

Have I got a long way to run
Have I got a long way to run
Yeah, I run
Yeah, I run

Have I got a long way
Have I got a long way
Have I got a long way to run
Have I got a long way to run

Yeah, I run (have I got a long way to run)
Yeah, I run (have I got a long way to run)
Yeah, I run (have I got a long way to run)
Yeah, I run (have I got a long way to run)
